5% for the Planet- Earth Day 2010
This April marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.  Austin is brimming with a host of events from volunteer opportunities and festivals to movie screenings and 5% for the Planet, where business give 5% of sales to local environmental groups.  We're bringing local people, businesses, and groups together to celebrate the biggest Earth Day yet! What a great way to give back while getting more people in your front door!  We're running a media and grassroots campaign including online and point of sale materials to encourage Austinites to vist their favorite businesses on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22nd.  Money raised will go to local environmental groups including AEN Partners Sustainable Food Center and Hill Country Conservancy.

There's a tradition in Austin that connects green minded women, creates a space for discussion of environmental issues, and highlights the work of EcoLeaders in our community. Chicas Verdes has been meeting the first Tuesday of the month for over a decade. Attendees report connections that have led to jobs and internships, built new friendships, and created a space to share and learn with a broad community of women.
