Austin Time Exchange at Learning Man Festival

ATEN’s Exchange Fair @ Learning Man — May 4th, 2013
@ Soma Vida Work-Life Center, 1210 Rosewood Ave, Austin, TX 78702

~A Knowledge-Share Festivity Event for the Greater Austin Community~

Coming up on Saturday, May 4th, as Day 2 of this year’s Learning Man Festival, is an Exchange Fair put on by the Austin Time Exchange Network.  From 11am until 4:30, local knowledgeable folks who are also members of this local timebank will be sharing what they know on topics ranging from spiritual healing to mariachi music!  The festival’s themes of Sustainability, Cooperation, and Passion, create a wide umbrella encompassing the various subjects.

Of particular interest to EcoNetwork subscribers, there will be a presentation + Q&A by local PV professional Vicki McAninch on Basic Solar Design and Installation, which will guide homeowners through what to expect when embarking on a residential solar project.  Vicki’s talk will be followed by Natural Homebuilding Techniques, taught by Thea Bryant, builder one of the most complicated Earthen Adobe Dome homes in the country.  Since the fair is taking place at Soma Vida, two blocks from Bryant’s home, an illustrative field trip may be involved.

Local permaculture teacher, Dick Pierce, will be engaging his class with deep thoughts, in “Does your World-view Need a Tune-up?” while Sarah Welch will lead a two-hour course on bicycling Austin’s roads safely.  Welch, who volunteers at Yellow Bike Project and whose bike is her primary mode of transportation, says “ I think bikes represent freedom and empowerment and I love sharing that with others.”

If you stay ALL day and take in all you can of amazing topics like Solutions to Animal Behavior Problems, Design Psychology, Internal Fitness, Creating a Personal Vision, and Swedish Massage, the “cost” to you will only be around 5 Hours.  Those are credits that you can earn back at any point in the future simply by spending 5 of your own hours giving assistance or knowledge to anybody in the ATEN community.  Orientations will be running all day to help you become an empowered timebank community member!
