City Council to Honor “Austin’s Tree Champions”

As part of Earth Week, Council member Randi Shade will be reading a proclamation "Thanking Austin's Tree Champions" — ahem,

"In recognition of their work to preserve Austin’s trees which are so vital to our City’s unique character, beauty and quality of life. Their efforts to preserve our heritage trees and to grow our urban forest are both honorable and commendable. All Austinites benefit from our beautiful tree canopy; it reduces global warming, provides habitat for wildlife and creates a sense of peace and tranquility. This award is presented with sincere thanks to the community of professionals, volunteer organizations, non-profit groups, City departments and extraordinary individuals whose hard work and ongoing dedication make our City great. Presented this 21st Day of April in the Year Two Thousand Eleven. The City Council of Austin, Texas…"
