Dan Barber and the Future of Food at the Paramount

Don’t miss Dan Barber’s only visit to Texas this year!

Barber, esteemed chef, restaurateur and author, will be headlining Edible Austin’s Eat Drink Local Week event at the Paramount Theatre on December 8 at 7 p.m. to speak about his new book, ‘The Third Plate, Field Notes on the Future of Food.'

Veteran TED talk presenter Barber will inspire guests to move beyond farm-to-table with a revolutionary new of eating in America. Austin-based musician Michael Fracasso will open the evening and there will be a post-show book signing and farmers market.

Barber, the nationally recognized chef at Blue Hill restaurant in Manhattan and Blue Hill at Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture, often cooks “hyper-seasonally,” using only the meat, produce and grains that the surrounding landscape is able to provide at that time. In a recent interview, Barber described his book as “a metaphor for a way of eating for the future, a radical re-look at our expectations for dinner.”

Tickets are selling fast, so reserve yours now! Tickets are $35, $25 for students and a limited number of $130 VIP tickets. VIP ticket holders will receive a signed copy of 'The Third Plate' and meet Barber at a pre-show reception featuring local chef favorites Hoover Alexander (Hoover’s Cooking), Todd Duplechan (Lenoir), Brandon Fuller (Café Josie), Jesse Griffiths (Dai Due) along with Thirsty Planet craft beer and Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktails.

This unforgettable evening kicks off the 7th Annual Eat Drink Local Week, during which Edible Austin encourages Austinites to support local farms and restaurants.
