Decide Austin’s Solar Future

With City Council deciding on our budget priorities for the coming year, it's an important time to share your vision for the future of solar in Austin.

We have ample solar resources and an opportunity to invest in our local economy, but Austin Energy has proposed slashing the budget for the solar rebate program by a whopping 42% from this year.

We need your help to stop these cuts and establish solar as a priority.

A diverse group of community leaders appointed to the Local Solar Advisory Committee (LSAC) by City Council examined solar opportunities in Austin and unanimously recommended that we double our 2020 solar goal, creating $300 million in net economic benefits and staying well within our current affordability goals.  Seems like a no-brainer, right?

Join us in calling on City Council to adopt the expanded goal and the LSAC's other recommendations to advance solar, such as establishing a community solar program that gives renters and those with shaded roofs an opportunity to benefit.

Solar has never been more affordable, and local solar gives us an unprecedented way to keep our energy dollars in the Austin economy.  Without polluting.  Or using any water.  And it creates jobs.  And the fuel is free.  Stop me when you're convinced…

Take a minute to email City Council.

Sending that email will only take a minute, but we have more planned if you have a bit more time.

Join us on Wednesday August 7th at noon in front of City Hall to help us rally for solar.

Make your voice heard!
