EcoCalendar June 4th – June 11th, 2015: National Trails Day, Food Fair, and the Cool House Tour

[Volunteer] Saturday, June 6th is National Trails Day, dedicated to improving and exploring our nation's trails and parks. Here in Austin, the Hill Country Conservancy, Texas Conservation Corps, and the Austin Parks Foundation are teaming up to celebrate by hosting several trail repair and cleanup events throughout the city. Volunteers can sign up for one of dozens of projects taking place across Austin from 8am to noon. And the best part is, all of that hard work will be followed by a Volunteer Appreciation Party at Roy G. Guerrero park. More info>>
 



[Solar Class] Saturday, June 6th at 11am TreeHouse is hosting a "Let the People Go Solar" class at its South Austin location. The class will give an overview of all things solar as well as give Austinites an opportunity to ask questions and get one-on-one consulting regarding their own projects. [Fundraiser] Saturday, June 6th from 6pm to 9pm the Clean Water Fund is hosting its annual "Spring for Water"celebration event and fundraiser at the Sustainable Food Center. There will be food, drinks, and a silent auction to support the fund's work fighting for clean water, renewable energy, and a sustainable Texas. Tickets are $35More info>> 

 


The Cool House Tour is this Sunday.[Tour] Sunday, June 7th from 10am to 6pm Austin Energy Green Building and the Texas Solar Energy Society are hosting the 19th annual Cool House Tour, which showcases energy-efficient and sustainably-designed homes across Austin. The tour is self-guided and guidebooks/tickets can be purchased at TreeHouse, Zinger Hardware, online, or at each individual home on the tour. More info>>

 

The Spring Food Fair will be at the Barr Mansion on Sunday.[Food Fair] Sunday, June 7th from 11am to 2pm the 

Sustainable Food Center is hosting its spring "Local Food Fair and Seed Swap" at the Barr Mansion. This family-friendly event will feature educational and interactive gardening, cooking and green-living booths, face painting, drinks, music, and a seed swap. Plus, it's FREE! More info>>
 


[Green Development] Monday, June 8th at 5:30pm the Imagine Austin Meetup group is hosting a meet-and-greet event with the CodeNEXT team at Scholz Garten. CodeNEXT is the initiative to revise Austin's land development code and it directly impacts many of the city's environmental goals. The CodeNEXT team will be at the meetup to answer questions and to talk about Austin's future growth and development. More info>>
