Introductions: the book and the blogger

Hello! My name is Jackie Sy- some of you may know me through my involvement with Austin EcoNetwork and Microbial Earth, others of you may not know me at all- in which case- I hope we cross paths soon. My blog on Austin EcoNetwork will be book commentaries- where I will relay some themes and ideas from books I’m reading and also include some of my own personal thoughts and reflections.The beginning of this blog also marks the beginning of a huge transition in my life. The first book I’ll be focusing on is Shannon Hayes’s Radical Homemakers: Reclaiming Domesticity from a Consumer Culture. So far, I’ve found this read to be very affirming in my decision to simplify my life, free up my time, and ultimately give up the 9 to 5 lifestyle.
