Given the staggering current and projected growth in our region’s North Corridor — an area roughly defined east and west of IH-35 from downtown Austin north to Pflugerville and the Williamson County communities of Round Rock, Hutto and Georgetown — the Project Connect team has developed the Draft North Corridor Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA), which aims to:

  • Offer a realistic transit network that we can afford and that can grow over time
  • Provide new choices for commuters in areas where there simply isn’t enough money or land to build enough roads to keep up with our rapid growth
  • Provide direct and frequent service between communities in the North Corridor and Central Austin, while linking high-growth areas that previously had few transportation choices
  • Integrate with North Corridor communities’ growth plans
  • Give commuters’ their time back – allowing them to check email, surf the web, read, or other enjoyable activities while using transit
  • Lower commuters’ transportation costs, so they can spend that money on other things

Please learn more about the North Corridor LPA by visiting http://www.projectconnect.com/connect/blog/project-connect-unveils-transit-plan-north-corridor-wants-your-feedback and be sure to let us know what you think of the proposal!
