Single Use Bag Ban Events and Dates

August 1^st- The Austin Zero Waste Alliance meets with all Councilmembers. IEN members are welcome to attend one or more meetings. Free lobby training is available on Wednesday, July 27^th at 12:30 PM at 611 S. Congress Ave., Ste. 200 (near Riverside Dr., just south of the Wells Fargo bank).

• 11:30 AM- Meeting with Laura Morrison

• Noon- 1 hour lunch

• 1:00 PM- Meeting with Bill Spelman

• 1:30 PM- Meeting with Chris Riley and Kathie Tovo

• 2:00 PM- Meeting with Sheryl Cole’s aide (Greg Anderson)

• 3:00 PM- Meeting with Mike Martinez

August 10^th- SWAC meeting to introduce and pass single-use bag ban

• 6:30 PM at City Hall

• IEN members are welcome to speak at the SWAC meeting during the citizen comment period at the beginning of the meeting.

August 18^th- Single-use bag ban Press Conference

• 9:30 AM at City Hall

• IEN Speaker welcome to give faith community’s perspective

• Funnel into City Hall at 10 AM

August 18^th- City Council meeting to pass single-use bag ban resolution, directing City Staff to craft an ordinance.

• 10 AM City Council meeting

• Sign up for citizen comment on the bag ban issue

• IEN Speaker opportunity to push single-use bag ban or donate minutes to another representative of the group
