Uplift Austin

UpLift Austin (UA) offers an innovative educational program to underserved high schools, introducing students to promising “green” careers, while designing and implementing projects to promote an environmentally sustainable campus. UA leverages local professionals to offer guest speakers, field trips, and a vast array of student-led campus improvement projects. Such projects may include outdoor classrooms, edible landscapes, recycling and rainwater harvesting systems. UA helps students build green career paths out of poverty while simultaneously transforming under-privileged schools into models for sustainable living.

Urban Patchwork

Urban Patchwork (UP) is an urban farm incubator that helps Austinites build community-organized food networks and neighborhood farms to increase access to fresh food in the urban setting. UP educates and mentors neighbors across the region to become good stewards of their land, their health, and their communities.

Our programs have a far-reaching impact in both the short term and long term. Systems we design and teach set a precedent for how we, as an urban society, can change our relationship with the environment, with our food systems and with each other.
