Enjoy a free acoustic show on Friday, December 14th at R.O.O.T.S. Ecovillage in South Austin! Featuring local bands Gashcat, Mighty Mountain, and from Shreveport, LA, Ghost Foot! This acoustic set will take place at a sustainable intentional community surrounded by flourishing gardens with a campfire, smores, and hot cocoa. Habitable Spaces is a residency where artist will be given the opportunity to design and construct their own shelter on site – with very few rules curtailing the outcome! Each resident will work a minimum of 4 hours per day, three days a week on our farm. During our upcoming first residency period we aim to admit 6 artists, increasing to 12 in subsequent years. Habitable Spaces is expected to be open to the public in the fall of 2012.

UpLift Austin (UA) offers an innovative educational program to underserved high schools, introducing students to promising “green” careers, while designing and implementing projects to promote an environmentally sustainable campus. UA leverages local professionals to offer guest speakers, field trips, and a vast array of student-led campus improvement projects. Such projects may include outdoor classrooms, edible landscapes, recycling and rainwater harvesting systems. UA helps students build green career paths out of poverty while simultaneously transforming under-privileged schools into models for sustainable living.
