From the Executive Director:

STAR is pleased to welcome Representative Dr. Alma Allen from District 131 in Houston as our newest confirmed attendee for the 81st Session Legislative Review and Roundtable. We were proud to support her efforts to pass HB4056 which would have established a collection and recycling program for mercury-added thermostats. Although it was regrettably not passed this session, we hope to work together to see this and other important recycling legislation made a reality in 2011.

Don't forget, aside from Summit being a great educational and networking opportunity, your participation in this year's event will also contribute to the revitalization of the unique Texas treasure that is Galveston, devastated by Hurricane Ike less than 8 months ago. The STAR is proud to donate a portion of Summit proceeds on behalf of our attendees and sponsors, to the City of Galveston Recycling Facility which was destroyed by the storm.
