CER Monthly Lunchtime Lecture – Kevin M. Anderson

“The Birds of Hornsby Bend: Avian Monitoring and the Hornsby Bend Bird Observatory”

Since 1959 birders have kept records of their observation of birds at Hornsby Bend. In 1999, Dr. Rob Fergus completed his Master’s thesis on the birds of Hornsby Bend recounting forty years of bird records at the site. Since 1999, we have conducted monthly bird surveys on the second Saturday of every month, annual hawkwatch monitoring from August to October, and other monitoring through our Hornsby Bend Bird Observatory program [ www.hornsbybend.org ]. Join me for a look back at the rarities and regularities of avian ecology at Hornsby Bend. Lots of beautiful bird pictures, too!
