Intro to TANO & Campus2Careers

When:
Tue, 08/10/2010 - 8:30am - 10:00am
Where:
TANO Offices
8001 Centre Park Drive

Austin is blessed with an abundance of ambitious college students looking for internships; yet, we all have stories of when these internships didn’t quite work out.

-          Do you wish there was a better way to find and engage qualified interns for your organization?

-          Not sure you need an intern?  What if you had funding to hire an additional staff person?  Would this additional person increase your organization’s capacity?

TANO knows the economic challenges facing Texas nonprofits, so to help fill the gap between funding and staff, TANO is initiating a pilot internship program just for Central Texas nonprofits.  This will create a pipeline of students to provide reliable staffing for nonprofits.  Utilizing the novel technology of campus2careers will streamline the sourcing and selection process and better position your organization to host an outstanding student intern this Fall Semester.

The pilot will include training, support, and access to students from area colleges. You need not be a member of TANO to attend the breakfast, but the pilot is limited to 30 TANO members.

At the hour-long session, we will reveal:

1. Exciting plans for the pilot and the nuts and bolts of how the program works;

2. Guidance on developing an effective internship experience that includes the opportunity for college credit;

3. How to generate a wish list of tasks/projects that students can perform for your organization;

4. How use campus2careers to get matched with qualified and interested students.

What Is campus2careers?

campus2careers got its start out of research conducted by UT's IC2 and is the first online career community to specifically match college students and recent grads with opportunities at small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), start-ups, and non-profits. campus2careers moves on-campus recruiting online, offering SMBs an effective and affordable way to fill entry-level jobs, internships, and part-time work. More than a job board, campus2careers uses preferences, skills, enhanced filters, and rich digital profiles to reduce the guesswork and time to hire. The site is currently free but will remain competitive to Craigslist once fees are charged.  While the site has only been available for 3 months, it has helped fill over 30 jobs with students from all area colleges.

Thank you for your support of the Texas nonprofit sector!
