Nature Challenge 2010 Austin
Nature Challenge 2010 Austin is debuted in the Central Texas area this spring on April 1, 2010. Like the Amazing Race, nature style, Nature Challenge encourages teams of families and friends to get outdoors and explore beautiful natural spaces close to home.
18 participating sites include state parks, city parks, nature centers and museums that have developed missions for teams to accomplish. A team must include at least 2 people and one of them must be under 18 years old. Once a team completes a mission, the team has their mission verified and moves onto another site. Teams visit as many participating areas in Central Texas as possible. Mission benefits include: hiking, bird identification, nature drawing, water science, natural history, bug collecting, nature study and more. Blog about your experiences and learn more about nature and science in your neighborhood.
Coordinated statewide by the Texas Forest Service, Agri-LIFE Extension and Houston Wilderness. Coordinated in the Central Texas area by the Austin Nature and Science Center. Nature Challenge 2010 Austin is ongoing during the beautiful months May and June. Prizes will be awarded in various categories at the closing ceremony on July 10, 2010 in Zilker Park.
The Challenge provides a great way to stay close to home and explore the Austin area.
