Hey all,

I'm involved in a documentary about green living and more specifically about what it will take to bring more people on board.

We are seeking some early adapters, people who are not only out there doing stuff to improve our world, but are bringing others along.

For example, we are hopefully talking with Paige Hill from Urban Patchworks who are making deals to grow gardens in people's yards that are otherwise being underutilized. We are talking with someone else who is creating a compost pick-up service.

Are there any people out there that you know of (maybe it is you) that are making efforts to not only help the earth, but help raise the bar for the noobies as well?

Sincerely,
Asaf Ronen

Green Living Documentary

Hi, Asaf,

I think my boss, John Dromgoole, would be a good person to interview. He's one of the pioneers of the "green" movement, and he's done it all from right here in Austin.

John's been promoting organic gardening and sustainable living for about 30 years now, and he's introduced hundreds, maybe thousands, of people to a different way of life. Maybe not everyone likes his style, but no one can dispute the great work that he's done. I remember him saying "I'll know I've done my job when places like Home Depot and Walmart are selling natural products." Well, that has come to pass.

Hopefully this business won't fold because of organics becoming mainstream (I like my job!) but if so, at least John (and all of us) can be proud of what he helped accomplish. He's a local boy who's done good; he's brought alot of people "across the river" to a more sustainable way of living.

If you think you may want to visit with John, email his assistant at lyda@naturalgardeneraustin.com

You can also get more info @ http://www.naturalgardeneraustin.com/John/index.html

Kind regards,
holly

green living doc

HI! Are you familiar with the Children in Nature Collaborative of Central Texas? Here is our website that was just recently established: http://naturerocksaustin.org/ . We are a group, as in "collaboration" of more than 25 organizations, including teachers, ministries, environmental groups, parks, doctors, school gardens, etc. (here is a link to the partners page on the website: http://naturerocksaustin.org/partners ), whose mission is to connect more kids with the out-of-doors and natural world more often, fostering happier, healthier, smarter human beings who become good stewards of our earth. We believe that children need to be personally connected to the natural world while being taught how to be good green stewards of the earth. There are many studies documenting how every year, more and more children are spending less and less time outside in the natural world, and thus have little or no connection and thus no strong motive and will to protect and be good stewards through green living.

The collaborative is being supported and sponsored at this time by Westcave Preserve. If you are interested, contact Molly Stevens at molly@westcave.org or if you can't reach her, you can reach me at m.wink@mail.utexas.edu . Thanks! Peggy Winkler
