Permaculture Talk Series
Austin Permaculture Guild announces its perennially popular Winter Series of free public talks on permaculture topics.
Our free talk series is happening Thursday nights now through April 5 (except Feb 9), from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., with discussion until 9. The location is the Habitat Suites, Austin's favorite eco-hotel at 500 East Highland Mall Blvd., Austin 78752. Habitat Suites is across from Highland Mall, and is accessible by both bus and city rail.
Unless noted otherwise, all talks are by Dick Pierce, primary instructor of our Permaculture Design Certificate courses.

Feb. 16: “Texology” Talk – Austin, TX – About Getting to [Really] Know This/Your Place (where Austin has been, how it got here; fascinating facts on our unusual soil, water, climate)
Feb. 23: Clips from “The Next Industrial Revolution” – clips from Bill McDonough video (far from greed and waste –- see major companies profit from sustainable thinking)
Mar. 1: “Other Stories to Be In” – Hints from Other Times, Cultures – AKA Other Worldviews (what can other times, traditions, and cultures tell us about different ways to be?)
Mar. 8: Your Local Food System Local farms/gardens – Smaller, Organic, Sustainable. (Panel discussion: a Local Farmer, a Poultry Producer, a Gardener, a CSA) – Urban Farms
Mar. 15: Honoring Local Food – Local, Safe, Nutritious, Yummy Food – Local Businesses. (Panel discussion: Local Writer/Editor, Farmers Markets, Local Dist., Restaurant, CSA)
Mar. 22: Food & Civilization Ride on the Soil – Restoring Soil, Bringing Land Back. (Noted Local Soil/Water expert, talks about how we can help Nature help our soil)
Mar. 29: Alternative Business & Finance – Theme: Re-Localization – Talk/Slides (Green, Sustainable, Energy-Efficient, Smaller, More Local Business, Worker-Owned, etc.)
Apr. 5: Eco-Villages, Intentional Communities, Co-Housing – Slides/Video (video of eco-villages in US & around world; talk on Austin Co-Housing)
