What is a "Green Job?" Government officials are STILL debating what "qualifies"... but in the mean time, how about getting a job-skill that can bridge the "green-mainstream" career gap, and offers a chance to support some of the most innovative Green Designers?

"AUTO-CAD" (COMPUTER ASSISTED DESIGN) is a popular software family, which includes a whole range of virtual-applied "Drafting" tools. A definate fit for "Creative-IT/Art" types. In recent years the Autodesk "Clean-Tech Partner" Program, has grown to include a whole range of great software offerings for "Green" Architects & Builders... GIS Techs and Inventors. SEE: their LIMITED TIME OFFER on super-cheap "sample" Student softwares ($50) at http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/item?id=14981616&siteID=123112 .

Austin Community College is the recognized "Auto-Desk Training Center" (ACC Northridge), and folks can gain Certificates in this dynamic program... without even having to attend on-site! Anyone seeking to develop stronger skills for Green Construction/Architecture (i.e. drawing schematics for applied solar/wind), will benefit from ACC-CE programs. Students leave ACC with valuable memberships in Auto-Desk and a lot of free "goodies!"

Contact Ashleigh Fuller (CE Auto-CAD Coordinator) at afuller@austincc.edu /512-223-4900. Or go to: www.austincc.edu/bustech/autocad. For small businesses under 100 employees, the Texas Workforce Commission is offering a "Skills Training Grant" via ACC. Funding ranges from $725/year (incumbant employees) to $1450/year (new employees). Go To: www.austincc.edu/smallbiz for details on how to apply. I'd be happy to answer any ???
