At SIGNS BY SHANE We are an environmentally conscientious company, located just above Barton Springs in the Barton Hills area. We are focused on bringing high quality, ECO-friendly signage to individuals and businesses in the Austin and central Texas area.
Companies worldwide are becoming more aware of the need to utilize products and processes that are environmentally friendly. This call also extends down to smaller, individually owned businesses—including SIGNS by SHANE..
SIGNS by SHANE continues to search out alternative products to meet the growing needs of our environmentally-conscious customers, while creating processes in our centers that are mindful of the environment for future generations.
Some environmentally responsible products are:
BIOflex™ is a durable white, flexible substrate readily available in seamless up to 16' 4'' (5.00m). Tear and fade resistant, it will withstand all types of weather conditions. BIOflex™ has been engineered to be the FIRST truly environmentally friendly, biodegradable PVC. It is well suited for applications that require a front-lit digitally printed sign or banner.
Xanita X-Board is a 100% natural fibre based sandwich board which has an internal core made from 100% recycled kraft. After its useful life it can again be repulped, making it 100% eco-friendly and assisting in reducing unfriendly landfill around the globe. X-Board is available in kraft or white top laminate depending on the final application requirements.
What are we doing today?
SIGNS by SHANE is becoming more environmentally-friendly by embracing UV curable print technology and using eco-solvent inks, which releases less waste into the air and promotes a cleaner environment. New centers opening with solvent printers use air purification systems to capture harmful vapors instead of venting them into the atmosphere.
SIGNS by SHANE is offering more environmentally-friendly material options as an alternative to the standard banner and sign materials—and we’re keeping our eyes open for new eco-aware offerings that are coming onto the market.
Other initiatives currently in place by SIGNS by SHANE to do its part in preserving the environment include:
As possible, use products that are recycled or recyclable
(ie: printer paper, old signs, materials scraps)
Dispose of hazardous materials properly (ie: inks)
Consideration of purchasing products with minimum packaging
or are sold in bulk, thereby reducing waste
Recycling toner cartridges through manufacturers
Using energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs
Turn off unused equipment during nights and weekend
