Renewable Energy Student Association taking part with Texas Roundup RC Solar Car Race & Design Competition
Renewable Energy Student Association is proud to make the announcement RESA will now proceed with the part where RESA will get involved with the Solar Car competition after members made unanimous "yes" answers to the Texas Roundup Survey where members were asked if they want RESA to be actively involved with the upcoming Texas Renewable Energy & Green Living Roundup and to take part with the Remote Control Solar Car Race & Design Competition.
Mary Kelly, the current Vice-President of RESA, has stepped up to take charge with getting RESA involved with the Remote Control Solar Car Race & Design Competition by having RESA work with ACC and students to design and build a remote control solar car. ACC Electronics and Advanced Technology Department has agreed to sponsor RESA to build the RC car. RESA will seek out more sponsors and need more students to join the RESA team. Here is the information RESA currently have about the competition:
All participants with a car have free entry to the Renewable Energy Roundup on race day which is September 29th at 3pm
All cars must be powered by solar energy alone, the remote control can be battery powered.
Car dimensions must be a minimum of 8 x 15 and maximum 15 x24.
Individuals or teams consisting of Students, Adults and Businesses will compete for a cash purse.
All competing business are encourage to brand their cars with logos.
There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards and 1st place cash prize to the winner or wining team (for race).
There will also be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards for best design.

There are now five students on the team and two of them are deaf Austin Community College students with engineering background with one attending a NASA workshop on remote control rover design last year. AustinEV and Revolt Custom Electric Vehicle are now sponsors of the RESA RC Solar Team!
